A new year means new things to do around DFW — and January is kicking things off with some truly fun outings for couples, kids, and the whole family. Whether you’re trying to shake off the post-holiday slump or looking to start the year with fresh memories, we’ve rounded up three local events worth adding to your calendar.
π Date Night
Natural Wine Tasting at Eataly (January 17)
If you’re looking for a date night that feels both cozy and elevated, the Natural Wine Tasting at Eataly Dallas on January 17 is just the right vibe. Picture this: curated pours of natural wines, expert guidance that makes you feel like a sommelier-in-training, and the warm, bustling atmosphere of one of Dallas’ most delicious destinations.
Whether you and your partner love diving deep into tasting notes or simply want a relaxed evening full of good conversation and new flavors, this class delivers. And since you’ll already be at Eataly… well, you might as well make a dinner reservation or grab a board of meats and cheeses to keep the night going.

π For Kids:
Winter Junior Pickleball Camp at Chicken N Pickle Grapevine (January 5 & 6)
If the kids are bouncing off the walls after winter break, we have just the solution. Chicken N Pickle in Grapevine is hosting their Winter Junior Pickleball Camp on January 5 and 6, and it’s perfect for kids ages 7–13.
This two-day camp blends instruction, drills, and games — all taught by pros who actually know how to keep kids engaged (and moving!). It’s beginner-friendly, so no prior pickleball experience is needed, and it’s a great way for kids to make friends, learn a new skill, and burn off all that early-January energy. Lunch is included, which makes this an easy “yes” for parents.

βοΈ For All Ages:
ICE! at Gaylord Texan (January 1, 2 & 3)
If you didn’t quite get your fill of festive magic in December, you’re in luck — ICE! at the Gaylord Texan continues into the new year on January 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Every year, Gaylord Texan transforms into a winter wonderland filled with massive hand-carved ice sculptures, themed walk-through rooms, ice slides, and sparkling displays that feel straight out of a holiday movie. It’s the kind of outing that works for everyone: grandparents, toddlers, teens, and anyone still in the mood for seasonal wonder.
Bundle up (they keep it at nine degrees inside!) and plan to spend at least a couple of hours exploring. It’s a great way to finish off winter break before school and routines kick back in.

β¨ Tips for Making the Most of January Events
-
Book early — especially for the wine tasting and ICE!, which tend to sell out.
-
Dress warm for Gaylord’s ICE! (seriously… it's nine degrees).
-
For the pickleball camp, send your kids with comfy sneakers and a water bottle — paddles are often provided.
-
Turn the wine tasting into a full date with dinner before or after at Eataly.
