Nearly a Decade Later, They Called Us First

Nail & Key Team

Where It All Started

Some client relationships last a single closing. Others turn into something much longer.

Matt and Monica were some of our very first clients, back when we helped them buy their first house in Fort Worth almost 10 years ago. We were still early in our real estate careers, learning the ropes right alongside them, and they trusted us with one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives anyway. Looking back now, with how much their home has appreciated since then, it's remarkable to see where that first leap of faith has led.

Learning Together

That first house came with its own lesson: foundation issues that needed to be negotiated and addressed, along with related plumbing work. Contractors ended up excavating around the exterior of the house to get everything visible and fixable, which meant weeks of coordination and back-and-forth to get it handled right. We worked through it together, the way you do in any relationship worth keeping, and it became one of those early moments that taught us as much as it did them.

That project set the tone for everything that came after. Matt and Monica saw firsthand that we'd show up, ask the right questions, and stay in their corner even when things got complicated. That kind of foundation (no pun intended) is what real long-term relationships are built on.

A Text, Years Later

Fast forward to 2026, and a text came through from Matt and Monica: they'd found their dream lot. A place to build a home, raise their kids, and grow old in together.

It turned out they'd quietly been searching for two years, never mentioning a word of it until the moment was right. That's just who they are: thoughtful, not the type to make noise about something until they're sure. Once it hit, though, it was full steam ahead. The lot itself was beautiful: wide acreage, near a creek, bordering a lake on an old ranch, exactly the kind of place you can picture a family growing into over decades.

Watching them start to dream out loud, picturing where the house would sit, how the sunlight would move across the trees, where the kids would play, was one of the best parts of the whole process. It's not just a transaction at that point. It's getting to watch people you care about build the next chapter of their life.

Behind the Scenes, Together Again

What followed was weeks of the less glamorous but necessary work: clearing up easements, old pipelines, and the technical details that come with raw land. None of it was flashy, but all of it mattered, especially on undeveloped acreage where the details are easy to miss.

We walked through all of it with them, right up to the day they signed and officially became landowners with a dream home ahead of them. For a couple who had quietly carried this vision for two years, that signature meant a lot more than paperwork.

Built for the Long Haul

That's the real story here. At Nail & Key, we build relationships meant to last, not just through one transaction, but through every chapter that follows. Whether it's been one year or nearly ten, we're still here, still nurturing that relationship so you never have to navigate a move alone.
